Dallas, TX (PRWEB) May 18, 2012

“When outside temperatures are in the 90′s or triple digits, we don’t have to convince anyone about the dangers of children locked in vehicles”, says Debbie Vice, owner of Pop-A-Lock of North Texas. “What many people many not realize is that on a day when the outside temp is just 85 degrees, the heat inside a closed vehicle can reach 104 degrees in 10 minutes and nearly 120 degrees in half an hour, and that can be disastrous.”

Unfortunately, Texas leads the nation over the past decade in number of deaths from children left in hot vehicles, at 71. Other southern states, including Florida and southern California, also have high numbers. Since 1998, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, estimates over 500 children have died after being left behind or trapped in cars, including more than 50 in 2011. There were three such deaths from hyperthermia in the DFW metro area last year.

Pop-A-Lock North Texas, operating in Dallas, Tarrant and Collin Counties has rescued 99 children from hot cars since 2010. Debbie estimates her company has received at least twice that number of calls for Emergency Door Unlocks, or EDU’s.

“When we get an EDU call, it becomes our top priority,” she said. “We always insist that parents call 911 in addition to Pop-A-Lock. If our technicians are more than a few minutes away, we don’t want them waiting on us. Just get that child out. Our concern is the safety and health of the child – it’s not about being a hero or gaining something for ourselves.”

In fact, Pop-A-Lock’s EDU program is a free public service and nationwide the company has rescued over 300,000 children since the program began in 1991. Debbie says that the reward is having the child out of the car and back into the hands of the family – “Our technicians open cars all day long, but the most rewarding jobs are the ones we don’t get paid for.”

She emphasizes that parents of kids trapped in vehicles aren’t bad parents, and most don’t imagine it would ever happen to them. “It’s a fast-paced and sometimes stressful world. We get in a hurry and over-burdened and unfortunate things can happen.” Planning ahead or leaving “memory triggers” might help avoid a scary or even a tragic experience.

When a vehicle is parked in the garage or driveway where young children might be playing, make sure it is locked and the keys are secured out of reach of children. Kids can become trapped in cars even when they’ve put themselves in the situation.

“Memory triggers” are like tying a ribbon on your finger to remind you of something. The Kids and Cars Organization recommends some simple steps:

Put something in the back seat of your vehicle that you need requiring you to open the back door every time you park (cell phone, employee badge, purse, etc.)
Every child should be correctly restrained in the back seat. Take the time to check the seat, the harness and the child before driving. This routine will help you not only transport safely but also is another reminder that the child is back there.
Keep a stuffed animal in your child’s car seat. Place in the front seat next to you when you are transporting a child – it will serve as a reminder that your child is with you.
Ask your child care provider or school to call you if your child hasn’t arrived in time.
Make it a habit to open the back door of your car every time you park, just to make sure you’ve left nothing – and no one – behind.
Never – NEVER intentionally leave a child in the car while you “run inside” for a minute.
As a passerby, if you notice a child alone in a vehicle, regardless of the temperature outside, notify authorities by calling 911. Your actions could save the life of a child – even when the temperature outside is comfortable.

“Getting the word out about children in cars is always important,” Debbie concludes. “What we’re emphasizing here is that these concerns are just as valid in spring and fall-type temperatures as they are in the middle of summer.”

Gaithersburg, Maryland (PRWEB) May 03, 2012

GL Communications Inc. a leader in providing PC-based test, analysis and simulation products and consulting services to the worldwide telecommunications industry, conveyed today the availability of its product Acoustic Echo Compliance Test Software per G.167 and P.340 standards.

Speaking to media persons, Mr. Jagdish Vadalia Senior Manager said, ”Acoustic echo is a common phenomenon that is encountered in many types of phone calls. It occurs when speaker output is fed back to the microphone input. This will disturb the far end speaker as they hear their own voice but delayed. Acoustic echo cancellers (AEC) are used in phones or in the network to minimize this distortion. Acoustic echo, unlike line echo, is dynamic during a call as people and speakers move about.”

He added, “GL’s Automated Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) Compliance Test Software (PKB081) is a feature rich application used to perform acoustic echo cancellation testing in accordance with ITU-T Specifications, G.167 (03/1993) and P.340 (05/2000). And it uses GL Communications’ T1 E1 Analyzer products and the customers AEC hardware or software to perform Acoustic Echo Canceller testing. Rin and Sin files (stimulus and echo) are prepared by Automated AEC Test software in accordance with user inputs. Rout and Sout are captured and processed.”

Some of the Main Features

·Simulates an actual acoustic echo path with acoustic filter types (Small, Medium, Large Office), Echo path delays and losses.

·Features such as filter, attenuate, and delay are available as well as slow filter coefficient variation as a function of time to simulate a real acoustic environment.

·Real-time as well as off-line analysis with tabular Pass/Fail results.

·Simulate acoustic echo for Analog (Mobile Phone), digital (Gateway), and Packet (VoIP IP Phone) applications.

·Auto or Manual control of the AEC during testing.

·Auto analysis of the response according to G.167 (03/1993) & P.340 (05/2000) requirements.

·Detailed graphical and tabular results for individual and overall test.

·Generation of report with the plots (Report Analysis).

·Options to recalculate test parameter across different region in the waveform (Plot Results).

·Option to zoom-in on any test results to investigate further.

·Supported on Windows Operating System with user-friendly Graphical User Interface.

·Compatible with GL’s Universal HD T1 E1 Cards and USB Portable T1 E1 units

(PRWEB) May 02, 2012

World-famous photographer Rankin has teamed up with London 2012 Organising Committee Chair Seb Coe and a host of Olympic and Paralympic athletes to mark the achievements of London 2012’s international sports legacy programme, International Inspiration, in a special photography exhibition.

A preview selection of photographs can be downloaded here
Watch three minute video to mark the exhibition of sports starts telling how they’re inspired by sport here

Inspired by Sport opens tomorrow at the Museum of London and showcases athletes captured by Rankin including Seb Coe, Denise Lewis, Colin Jackson, Tanni Grey-Thompson, Louise Hazel and James Ellington. These photographs convey the inspirational power of sport and feature alongside images – taken by a host of international photographers – of young people around the world whose lives have been enriched by the programme and are inspired by sport.

The exhibition highlights the work of International Inspiration, a unique partnership between UNICEF, the British Council and UK Sport, to realise London 2012’s legacy promise to enrich the lives of 12 million children in 20 countries in time for this year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games, a double-feat the programme achieved in February this year.

Each photograph demonstrates how International Inspiration is harnessing the power of inclusive physical education, sport and play to address issues that affect children and young people, such as gender equality, gang violence, lack of educational opportunities, life skills development, HIV / AIDS education and intercultural awareness in countries from Azerbaijan to Zambia.

The programme is fulfilling the promise made by Seb Coe on behalf of the bid team in Singapore in 2005 to ‘reach young people all around the world and connect them to the inspirational power of the Games so they are inspired to choose sport…improving their lives as a result.’

Seb Coe, Chair of LOCOG said: ‘Inspired by Sport is celebrating the huge achievements of International Inspiration and captures how sport can be a real change for good. I’m very proud that London 2012 is enabling positive change to happen to millions of children and young people around the world. I have been lucky enough to have met some of the young people being reached through the programme and to have seen how it is providing them with more opportunities in life.’

Sir Keith Mills, LOCOG Deputy Chair and II Foundation Chair said: ‘Having now achieved our original objectives and made such an impact, it’s important now for us to focus on continuing and expanding this extraordinary programme as a real legacy from the London 2012 Games.’

Olympic gold medallist and International Inspiration Ambassador Denise Lewis said: ‘I have seen first-hand the impact International Inspiration is having on young people lives. When I visited India, I saw something truly special that is making a real and last difference to children of all abilities, social status and gender.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 03, 2012

Within the last decade, the marketing industry has seen the power of direct marketing shift from print, to TV, to online advertising. Currently, we are seeing another major direction shift in marketing. This directional shift is called the mobile boom. Business Insider reports that in 2011, the number of smart phones sold exceeded the numbers of PCs sold. With this trend continuing (and accelerating) in 2012, many brands and advertisers are targeting consumers via their mobile devices.

In the past decade, retail stores experienced a sharp shift in consumer purchasing from brick and mortar to online. This shift resulted in retailers across the nation closing stores, laying off workers and focusing their attention online to maximize profits.

Now another shift is happening. Consumers are accessing the Internet via their mobile devices in large and growing numbers. This is important because online marketers were once limited to reaching their market when they were in front of their computer – usually at home or in the office. This resulted in large blackout times where advertisers could not reach their consumers. With mobile marketing, advertisers can reach their potential customers at any time and in any place. The question now is, as a business, what are you doing to make sure that you are part of this mobile boom? Producers now have a few ways to capitalize off of this shift.

The first step is to build mobile optimized pages for online storefronts. This will help increase revenue by improving the consumer experience.

“The easier it is for consumers to navigate mobile sites, the higher the conversions,” says Erdolo Eromo, Senior Vice President of Sales at Mobile Messenger. “Not only will poorly designed interfaces increase bounce rates, they may also damage a brand.”

According to David Nachum, Associate Product Manager at Google, 61% of consumers are unlikely to return to a website they had trouble accessing from their phone. He goes on to say that last year, Google “began to limit ad serving on high-end mobile devices if they pointed to landing pages with Flash-heavy content.”

What this means for businesses is that if your site is not properly optimized for mobile, Google and other search engines will be less likely to point consumers there from organic search. With mobile search growing at an accelerating rate, an oversight like this may lead to obsolescence.

The next step would be to partner up with a direct carrier billing platform company like Mobile Messenger. With the mobile boom comes a new form of payment capabilities that merchants can use to increase ROI by driving more sales. According to mopay, a payment solutions provider to online merchants, “Direct carrier billing will be a catalyst for innovation and change within the mobile payments industry in 2012.”

The mobile boom is happening right now. Businesses will need to redesign their online face to remain relevant in the Cloud generation.

About Erdolo:

Erdolo Eromo moved to South Los Angeles from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at the age of eight. A natural athlete, he played football for powerhouses Crenshaw High School and UCLA. He went on to earn his Executive MBA from Pepperdine University in 2011. Climbing up the corporate ladder in six years, Erdolo is one of the youngest senior executives in the mobile industry. He now serves as Senior Vice President of Sales and Client Services at Mobile Messenger (MM), the largest off deck mobile aggregator in the United States. He is responsible for identifying opportunities and designing strategies for sales growth. Erdolo is considered to be an expert in identifying trends in the mobile commerce space as well as finding new opportunities in which the mobile phone can be used as a billing platform.

Chatham, New Jersey (PRWEB) May 01, 2012

Desktop Alert Inc. today announced it has released a new version of the company’s desktop alerting agent. This enhanced technology enables displayed workstation ‘pop-ups’ to be audibly heard by all message recipients, including the visually impaired. Any standard workstation with typical audio speakers enabled can broadcast the complete contents of the emergency alert. This enhanced audio capability allows people to hear the emergency message even if they are away from their workstation provided they are within listening range of the speakers. The alerts can also be broadcast via Indoor and Outdoor Public Address and/or Giant Voice speakers.

“This is just another modality that needs to be addressed in the effort to have an all-encompassing mass notification system that can literally blanket a location with highly effective actionable intelligence during an emergency. Pop ups, text messages, emails, wall beacons, these are all powerful alerting modalities but there is also a segment of the recipient population that would benefit from audio message reception over computer speakers. This product meets the need of this scenario” said Howard Ryan, Founder and Chief of Research and Development for Desktop Alert, Inc.

As per Section 508 Standards Summary: Video or Multimedia Products (1194.24) Section C

(c) All training and informational video and multimedia productions which support the agency’s mission, regardless of format, that contain speech or other audio information necessary for the comprehension of the content, shall be open or closed captioned.

“The product enables the alerts publisher to simply type the message. No technical acumen is required as the system instantly and seamlessly converts the alerts text to a sound file for delivery to numerous end-points such as cell phones, landlines, speaker systems, desktops and more” Ryan added.

Currently the system is being utilized by police agencies for alerting to police officers in squad cars. The police are able to hear the alert without taking their eyes off of the road while driving. Alerts include a combination of audio, images, and hyperlinks which can be clicked for additional information and user response options.

About Desktop Alert Inc (http://www.desktopalert.net)

Worldwide U.S. Military organizations such as The United States National Guard, The United States Air Force Academy, The United States Military Academy at West Point, Multi-National Forces in IRAQ, The U.S. Air Force, The U.S. Army now utilize the DTA mass notification platform daily for their organizations emergency communication requirements. Desktop Alert can contact thousands of users with desktop alerts and require receipt confirmation of the message. Those not verified can then be listed on a report and/or sent as a “Target Package” to be automatically contacted by other means such as email, SMS, phone calls and other devices.

(PRWEB) April 26, 2012

MeeMojo has added an entire new flare to their already successful line of iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s cases. Customers can now get a unique team case to represent their favorite National Team with the new line of “Euro Cup 2012 Elite 16” cases. All 16 cases have distinct national colors individually machined from a high density polymer that are guaranteed to get you noticed. These new cases are compatible with either the iPhone 4 or the iPhone4s.

The MeeMojo cases offer great styling and loads of attitude for that “eye poppin’ look and feel to protect your iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s. With the addition of the Euro Cup 2012 series, the fans can really let their personality shine through while representing their favorite national team. MeeMojo’s “Edgy” and “Slick” aluminum cases have already been developing a reputation that they are “tough as nails” protection for the iPhone4/4s.

Each case is machined from a solid 6061-T651 billet aluminum alloy. Cases are hard plated to ensure the highest level of durability, and now come in an even wider array of color options. Each case also contains brightly polished stainless steel fasteners, which add strength and allow for quick installation. The cases also contain an ergonomically sculpted top plate. Allowing the ability for the user to quickly locate and access the home button by guiding thumb to naturally settle on to the machined oval pocket. All buttons including the headphone jack remain clear and unobstructed. MeeMojo’s Slick cases have been designed to fit on most docking stations. Both the Slick and Edgy cases can be accepted in most high quality car holders and docks. These attributes are what allow the MeeMojo cases to provide unsurpassed style and protection with the attitude to outperform all other cases.
